What People are Saying About James Kennedy & Friends

The group played to a packed house and brought the audience to it’s feet with it’s unique blend of mainstream jazz, fusion, and what can only be called Midwestern jazz. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Kennedy in the future... Review of the North Sea Jazz Festival, Holland

James Kennedy – 25:  It’s been a good while since I listened to & reviewed James high-energy  guitar work (issue # 53, to be precise), & this superb new release brings back nice memories of his well-qualified playing.  Tunes like the jumpin’ opener, “Bye Bye Blues“, will have you boppin’ right along with his changes.  The 5:10 “Persuasive” will make you slink around the room – you won’t be able to just toe-tap on this one – you’ll have a NEED to get up & dance.  My personal favorite was the near-rocker “So Much For Justice” that closes the ten-song aural adventure… brings reality right into your headphones (& yes, I’d recommend that you do your first listen with them on); believe it or not, there are shades of Zappa on this one.  I give James a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.97.  Get more information at his Heart Consort Music site.       Rotcod Zzaj
